This pie is very rich, full of chocolate flavor and makes a perfect dessert or a treat! Amazing pie to make at the Holiday season. Thanksgiving or Christmas, weeknight treat or a potluck dessert- this chocolate pie will become a staple in your house.

Ingredients

Evaporated Milk: Adds creaminess and richness to the filling without adding too much moisture, which helps achieve a fudgy texture.

Chocolate Chips: The star of the recipe, they provide deep chocolate flavor and a smooth, melt-in-your-mouth texture when combined with the other ingredients.

Butter: Adds richness and helps give the pie its soft, fudgy consistency. It also enhances the flavor of the chocolate.

Sugar: Sweetens the pie and balances the bitterness of the chocolate, giving the filling a pleasant sweetness.

All-Purpose Flour: Just a small amount is used to thicken the filling slightly, giving it a more structured texture without making it too dense.

Eggs: Bind the filling together and give it a creamy, custard-like consistency as it bakes. They also help the pie set once it cools.

Pie Crust: Provides a crisp, buttery base that contrasts nicely with the smooth chocolate filling. Store-bought or homemade both work well, depending on your preference.

Can you freeze it?

Yes you can and its very convenient.  Bake it ahead of time for your upcoming celebration and than freeze. Cover in foil completely though.

To thaw just leave it in a fridge until soft and bouncy to the touch and not frozen any more. Thawing in the fridge is the best way to defrost a pie. You can also leave it on the counter for a few hours and the pie will get thawed.

Expert tips

To make sure your chocolate fudge pie turns out great, follow these simple tips:

Melt the chocolate, evaporated milk, and butter in short bursts in the microwave, stirring each time to keep the mixture smooth and prevent burning.

If the butter is very hot, let it cool briefly before adding the eggs to avoid cooking them.

After adding the flour, sugar, and eggs, stir the mixture gently until just combined for a nice, soft texture.

Remove the pie from the oven when the center is still slightly wobbly. It will set as it cools, giving a fudgy texture.

Allow the pie to cool fully before slicing for clean cuts, and top with whipped cream for an extra treat.
